Job summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital in Houston seeks a Full-Time Registered Nurse, PAT to coordinate pre-admission testing and the interview/assessment process for surgical patients. You will communicate with providers about testing results to optimize patient condition before surgery.

Responsibilities include documenting care, executing orders, teaching patients and families, and participating in performance improvement activities. Requires Texas RN license and perioperative experience.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Nursing required.
• Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas.
• Perioperative nursing experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification at minimum; ACLS and PALS to be obtained within 60 days.

Responsibilities

Job description

Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Full- TimeRegistered Nurse, PAT to join our team at the West location in Houston Texas 77072!

The Registered Nurse, PAT is responsible for coordinating the pre-admission testing (PAT) and interview/assessment process for patients scheduled to undergo an invasive or surgical procedure. Communicates with providers and/or their respective office staff as indicated regarding patient testing results to optimize the patient’s condition prior to surgery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensures supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order
• Explains nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxiety
• Assesses patient’s physical and mental status
• Documents patient care delivered, accurately in the medical record
• Implements doctor’s orders in a timely and accurate manner
• Coordinates patient care; provides explanations and teaching to patient/family
• Plans for routine events and anticipates/prevents and manages/evaluates emergent situations
• Adapts to unexpected changes
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of
• medical/health care errors.
• Participates in performance improvement activities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associates Degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
• One (1) year of perioperative nursing experience
• Basic Life Support certified
• Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire
