Job summary

The Surgical Support Attendant at Huntsville Hospital works under the direction of the RN/LPN to provide direct patient care, transport patients, and keep the unit clean and organized. This role requires strong communication and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, and BLS certification before the end of orientation; previous patient care experience is preferred.

Job description

The Surgical Support Attendant works under the direction of the RN/Licensed Practical Nurse. Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, transporting patients, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the unit. The Attendant demonstrates the ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, to set and manage multiple priorities, and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

Education

High School Diploma/GED required.

Experience

Previous patient care experience preferred.

• Ability to communicate in English with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
• Ability to work under stress.
• Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
