Job summary

Southern Oral Surgery is seeking a dental assistant to support the oral surgeon during procedures and ensure a smooth, safe patient experience. The role includes room preparation, x-rays, and accurate health history review.

You will help with post-operative instructions, charting, and office tasks while maintaining confidentiality and a professional demeanor in a busy surgical environment.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in an inpatient or outpatient surgical environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Consistently professional appearance and attitude.
• Must be detail-oriented, punctual, and patient-care-focused.

Responsibilities

• Assist the oral surgeon during a variety of surgical procedures.
• Prepare treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
• Take dental x-rays of excellent, diagnostic quality.
• Review patient Health History to ensure it is recorded accurately and completely.
• Serve as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol, and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment.
• Help patients feel comfortable before, during, and after surgical treatment.
• Provide patients with post-operative instructions for oral care following surgery or other oral treatment procedures, such as the placement of dental implants or extraction of third molars.
• Record doctor notes and vital sign information during a surgical procedure or office consultation.
• Perform office management tasks that often require the use of a personal computer.
• Maintain patient confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in an inpatient or outpatient surgical environment
• Experience in a hospital environment is highly preferred but oral surgery experience is not required
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Consistently professional appearance and attitude
• Must be detail-oriented, punctual, and patient-care-focused
• Motivated to grow and learn new things
