Job summary

Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin, TX seeks a Surgical Assistant to support perioperative services by transporting patients to the OR, restocking supplies, and maintaining a clean environment. This role reports to the Executive Director of Perioperative Services and requires a High School diploma and Nurse Aide credentials.

Prior OR exposure and BLS for Healthcare Providers are preferred. The position is on site with full-time hours and benefits.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Nurse Aide experience or completion of a Nurse Aide Course preferred.
• Current Texas Nurse Aide Registry certification required.
• 1–2 years of prior Operating Room experience preferred.
• American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider required.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to and from the Operating room.
• Order and restock supplies for perioperative care.
• Perform environmental sanitation in the perioperative area.
• Participate in nursing activities within the perioperative setting.

Scope of Responsibility

The Surgical Assistant is also responsible for transporting patients to and from the Operating room, ordering and restocking supplies, performing environmental sanitation and performing other functions pertaining to nursing activities within the perioperative area.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Training and Experience

• 1 year current hospital or nursing home Nurse Aide experience or completion of Nurse Aide Course preferred
• Current certification through the Texas Nurse Aide Registry
• 1 – 2 years previous Operating Room experience preferred
• Obtains and maintains American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider
