Medical Center Hospital in Texas seeks a Surgery Assistant to support nursing staff with direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Unit Coordinator.

You will perform duties such as patient transfers, aseptic technique, case preparation, and surgical suite turnover, with varied hours and lifting as needed.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Listed with Texas Department of Nurse Aid Registry preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer to department.
• Complete the following competencies within three (3) months of hire or transfer.

Position Summary

The Surgery Assistant enhances patient focused care by assisting the nursing staff with direct and indirect nursing care activities. The Surgery Assistant receives functional direction and guidance from the Registered Nurse and as assigned by the Unit Coordinator or Designee.

Qualifications

A. Education:

High School graduate or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the department

B. Training and Experience:

1. Listed with Texas Department of Nurse Aid Registry preferred.
2. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification that follows the American Heart Association guidelines required within ninety (90) days of hire or transfer to department.
3. Complete the following competencies within three (3) months of hire or transfer from another department.
