Job description

We are an elite oral surgery practice committed to providing exceptional patient care and first-class service to our referring doctors. We are seeking a fun, hardworking, compassionate team player to help us grow and serve our community's oral surgery needs. Previous oral surgery experience is required.

The role of the Surgical Assistant is vital in delivering outstanding patient care, ensuring optimal clinical outcomes, and meeting patient needs.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Assist surgeons during procedures by performing tissue retraction, managing intravenous lines, and completing documentation.
2. Perform preoperative and postoperative duties to facilitate patient care.
3. Verify patient identity and operative sites.
4. Discuss surgical procedures with the surgeon, including operative consent and methods of exposure.
5. Maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
6. Keep the operative field clear using retractors, sponges, suction, and irrigation.
7. Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for surgeries.
8. Inspect and prepare sterile and non-sterile surgical instruments and supplies.
9. Operate sterilization equipment.
10. Monitor intraoperative patient status.
11. Obtain dental radiographs and imaging.
12. Complete patient clinical narratives.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification required or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire.
• Minimum of one year of oral surgery experience required.
• DAANCE certification preferred.
• Licensed dental assistant preferred.
• Radiology certification preferred.
