Job summary

AdventHealth in Zephyrhills, FL, is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the day shift in a full-time role. The position supports surgical procedures through sterile technique, patient positioning, and case preparation, under supervision.

You will work closely with physicians and staff to maintain safety and infection control. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (preferred) with BLS (required) and prior PCT or acute care hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of sterile technique and operating room environment.
• Ability to comprehend instructions and processes to carry out job requirements.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• PCT experience and acute care hospital setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Disposes of supplies, labs, and specimens per hand-off processes.
• Turnover of surgical cases with proper cleaning protocols.
• Functions as a limb holder at the sterile field under medical direction.
• Maintains knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for case prep.
• Ensure safe transport, transfer, and positioning of patients while protecting privacy.
• Prepare patients for procedures and relay information to staff.
• Monitor infection control measures and take corrective action.
• Support safety and infection control practices.
• Maintain relationships with physicians and staff.
• Adhere to policies, quality standards, and described duties.
