Job summary

St. Charles Health System is seeking an Advance Practice Provider (Surgery) to provide medical and surgical services under supervision.

The APP will assist in the operating room across general, bariatric, colorectal and breast surgeries, and deliver inpatient/outpatient care with rounds, orders, and post-op care. The role requires a PA or NP license in Oregon, active DEA, BLS (ACLS if sedation), and hospital privileges with potential involvement in call rotation and clinic visits.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program and licensure as applicable.
• Unrestricted Oregon PA or NP licensure and DEA registration.
• Current BLS; ACLS if sedation is used; robotic surgery certification preferred.
• Experience with hospital rounding and perioperative care.
• Active privileges at SCHS hospitals or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Acts as First or Second Assistant during surgical procedures as directed by physicians.
• Performs patient examinations and records medical history and findings.
• Orders and interprets labs, imaging, and diagnostic procedures.
• Interprets data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
• Administers medications per state law and guidelines.
• Educates patients and families on medications, treatments and health maintenance.
• Manages patient records in the EMR; documents clearly and timely.
• Triages calls and provides clinical consultations as needed.
• Maintains professional growth and participates in quality improvement.
