Job summary

UCI Health in Orange County seeks an experienced patient registrar to perform tasks necessary to register patients, obtain authorizations, verify funding, and schedule surgery. Responds to patient inquiries and resolves issues to ensure smooth admissions.

This position requires familiarity with registration systems, medical terminology, English communication, and the ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings. Travel to off-site physician practices may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with computer registration and registration scheduling system
• Must demonstrate general understanding of medical terminology
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Must be able to travel to off site physician practices
• Minimum one year recent experience registering patients in a hospital or clinic
• General knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Demonstrated experience using MS Office
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and evenings
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverage
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
