Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Jacksonville, FL is hiring a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our team. The role includes nursing care, IV catheter placement, and post-operative client communication. A rotating on-call schedule is required after training.

We offer a sign-on bonus up to $7,500 for qualified applicants, pay range $20–$40 per hour, and opportunities for career advancement within Mars Veterinary Health.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of experience in a veterinary hospital.
• Placement of peripheral IV catheter in cephalic vein.
• Ability to assess vitals and communicate changes to the doctor.
• Set up and administer IV fluids, including subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate IV fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy and detect overload.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards and core values.
• Place peripheral intravenous catheter in cephalic vein.
• Perform physical exams and document vitals.
• Alert veterinarian when parameters are abnormal.
• Set up intravenous fluids and administer subcutaneous fluids.
• Operate and troubleshoot IV fluid pumps.
• Maintain aseptic connections when disconnecting/connecting IV lines.
• Monitor patient response to fluid therapy and signs of overload.
