Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking a part-time Surgery Veterinary Technician to join a fast-paced team. You will support the surgery department, manage patient histories and medical records, assist with anesthesia and radiographs, and help provide post-operative care to patients and client communications.

The role requires strong communication, prior veterinary experience, and the ability to work flexible hours.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required, previous surgery experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.
• Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
• Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and financial obligations
• Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
• Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
• Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs

Surgery Veterinary Technician

Job type: Part time hours (Monday and Fridays), on call expectations

Our Surgery team is a fast-paced environment, perfect for technicians that are looking for training in multiple facets of the department and interaction with the other teams in the hospital. This team requires strong communication skills to liaison between surgeons and clients and deliver post-operative care instructions.
