Job summary

MedVet Medical & Cancer Centers for Pets is seeking a licensed Veterinary Technician for Surgery/Anesthesia in Washington. The role involves assisting in a fast-paced surgery team, preparing patients for anesthesia, and maintaining precise medical records while liaising with surgeons and clients.

Core duties include medication handling, postoperative care instructions, and active participation in perioperative activities.

Qualifications

  • State-registered Veterinary Technician license is required.
  • Prior veterinary experience is required; surgery experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions) and accurate medical records handling.

Responsibilities

  • Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges.
  • Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records; schedule appointments.
  • Create patient releases and guide conversations about treatment plans and finances.
  • Prepare patients for surgery (shaving, scrubbing, positioning); assist with intubation and radiographs.
  • Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork.
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and complete; maintain OR cleanliness and instrument sterilization.

We are looking for:

License Veterinary Technician- Surgery/Anesthesia

Schedule:Wednesday- Saturday 8a-6p

Our Surgery team is a fast-paced environment, perfect fortechnicians that are looking for training in multiple facets of the department and interaction with the other teams in the hospital. This team requires strong communicationskillstoliaison between surgeons and clients and deliverpost-operative careinstructions.

What you’ll do:
  • Manage appointments,obtainpatienthistories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc
  • Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
  • Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and financial obligations
  • Prep patientsfor surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
  • Proficiently perform blooddrawsand submit bloodwork
  • Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
  • Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs
Who are you:
  • State Registered Veterinary Technician licenserequired
  • Prior veterinary experience required, previous surgery experience desired
  • Proficient in calculations (drugs, constant rate infusions, unit conversions, etc.)
  • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compensation:

This position has an initial hiring range of $24.00 to $40.00 per hour based on skillset and experience. We support our weekend and overnight caregivers with lucrative shift differentials:

  • Hours worked between 8pm and 11:59pm = base pay + $2/hour
  • Hours worked between 12am to 7:59am = base pay + $3/hour
  • Hours worked on Weekends (day or night) = base pay +$1/hour + any applicable differential
