Job summary

MedVet in Utah is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our fast-paced surgical team. You will support surgeons, manage patient histories and medical records, and help deliver post-operative care.

The role involves prepping patients, assisting with anesthesia, taking radiographs, handling medications, and ensuring accurate documentation. State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred; prior veterinary and surgery experience required.

Qualifications

• State Registered Veterinary Technician license preferred.
• Prior veterinary experience required; surgery experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work extra hours.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage appointments, obtain patient histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc
• Fill medications, enter charges and maintain accurate medical records, schedule appointments
• Create patient releases, navigate client conversations around treatment plans and financial obligations
• Prep patients for surgery, including shaving, scrubbing and positioning, assist with intubation and radiographs
• Proficiently perform blood draws and submit bloodwork
• Ensure documentation is accurate and complete
• Opening, turning over and cleaning operating rooms, as well as cleaning instruments and wrapping packs
