The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York City is seeking a Surgery Patient Care Assistant to join our Surgical team, supporting advanced veterinary care from prep through recovery. You will work with Doctors and Licensed Veterinary Technicians to ensure safe, efficient procedures.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year experience in a surgical setting, strong patient handling skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital that operates 24/7.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a specialty or surgical veterinary setting preferred.
• Must be proficient in-patient handling/restraint
• Proficiency with surgical positioning and familiarity with aseptic technique
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding environment, handling multiple tasks with competing deadlines
• Knowledge of surgical and operating room equipment operation (Stryker, Arthrex, Storz, Portable x-ray units) and care (including suction, and cautery)
• Must be able to follow detailed protocols

Responsabilités

• Take notes in exam rooms with veterinarians and clients.
• Master AMC Veterinary Assistant skills Levels I-IV.
• Cross-reference medical records and follow treatment plans.
• Specialized handling and restraint of patients of all species.
• Assist in patient monitoring, supportive therapies, and procedures.
• Assist with setup of surgical procedures and equipment.
