The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center in New York City is seeking a Surgery Patient Care Assistant to support doctors and LVTs in the Surgery Department. You will assist with surgical preparation, provide patient care from examination through discharge, and help maintain OR efficiency and safety.

Ideal candidates have 1+ years in a specialty or surgical veterinary setting, strong restraint skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Formación

• 1+ years of experience in a specialty or surgical veterinary setting preferred.
• Proficient in-patient handling/restraint.
• Proficiency with surgical positioning and familiarity with aseptic technique.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, demanding environment with multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Knowledge of surgical and operating room equipment operation (Stryker, Arthrex, Storz, Portable x-ray units) and care.
• Strong communication, time management and multitasking skills.
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in patient monitoring, supportive therapies, treatments, and procedures related to the department.
• Assist with setup of surgical procedures including orthopedic, soft tissue, and minimally invasive surgeries.
• Aid in operation, troubleshooting, cleaning, and maintenance of surgical equipment.
• Support diagnostic imaging needs, including positioning and image acquisition for radiographs and fluoroscopy (preferred).
• Provide safe handling and restraint of small animal patients in a surgical setting.
