Job summary

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Surgery/Special Unit Coordinator to manage all scheduled and unscheduled procedures, admissions, and appointments. You will support caregivers by maintaining unit organization and ensuring accurate data capture with CPT coding when needed.

This role requires standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods and involves direct patient contact, family communication, and collaboration with physicians and staff across departments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with basic medical terminology knowledge.
• 2 years related experience or 3 years of customer service concierge experience.
• Working knowledge of scheduling systems and patient billing/insurance processing.
• Proficiency in Word and Excel; familiarity with PC-based systems.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate all scheduled and unscheduled procedures, admissions, and appointments.
• Triage appointments based on diagnosis, preferences, and physician specialty.
• Communicate with patients and families, providing instructions and resources.
• Ensure accurate data entry, CPT coding, and case information.
• Serve as liaison to admitting and other department staff for reservations and updates.
• Perform intra- and inter-department scheduling as ordered by physicians.
