Job summary

Goodsamhospital in Bakersfield, CA, is seeking a Surgery Nurse Manager to oversee Surgical Services including the Holding Area, Operating Rooms, PACU, Out-Patient Surgery Unit, Endoscopy Unit and Central Supply. The role requires collaboration with the Chief of Surgery to continuously assess and improve patient care quality.

The position focuses on coordinating staff, education, and adherence to hospital and nursing standards, ensuring safe, efficient operations and strong clinical competency

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years clinical practice in provision of Surgical services with emphasis on leadership and management experience.
• Current verification of competence in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that the mission and objectives are maintained for areas of responsibility and guides staff accordingly.
• Coordinates scheduling of surgical procedures in the Operating Room to ensure availability of staff, space, equipment and support.
• Participates in department and hospital committees and develops staff through training and education.
• Supervises nursing care performance and ensures timely patient assessments and data reporting.
• Maintains knowledge of nursing techniques and operates specialized equipment safely with consideration for all age groups.
• Defines and implements ongoing performance improvement activities aligned with the Performance Improvement Program.
