Job summary

SCA Health, part of Optum, is seeking a facility support specialist to assist with Medical Records, Credentialing, Admissions/Intake, Accounts Payable, Billing, and Insurance Verification. You will support scheduling, registrations, and patient communications at the center in Summerville, SC.

The role requires a high school diploma (associate degree preferred) and at least three years in healthcare, including surgery scheduling.

Qualifications

• Minimum three years of experience in health care, with at least one year in surgery scheduling preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible with hours and shifts.
• Knowledge of surgery scheduling, receptionist and registration responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries in the system and handle calls from physicians' offices regarding scheduling.
• Answer phones professionally and assist physician offices and patients.
• Complete pre-registration and obtain physician authorization prior to surgery.
• Maintain logs for cancelled appointments.
• Perform clerical duties such as photocopying, mailing surveys, preparing patient charts, faxing, and retrieving faxes.
• Keep the surgery scheduling area clean and orderly.
• Verify all scheduled cases promptly.
• Inform patients of payment policies and options when appropriate.
• Document insurance verification and patient calls in the account.
