Job summary

UT Health Science Center at San Antonio is seeking a Surgery Scheduler for the UTHP Med Pulmonary Gateway. Under general supervision, you will schedule operating time and coordinate pre-surgical medical clearance to ensure efficient use of information systems resources.

The role requires three years of scheduling experience, EMR familiarity, and CPT/ICD-10 coding knowledge, with bilingual Spanish/English preferred. On-site position with opportunity to coordinate patient care across departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of professional experience in scheduling or related field.
• Experience with EMR systems and CPT/ICD-10 coding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedules surgical procedures and treatments and coordinates pre-surgical medical clearance.
• Verifies receipt of physician orders.
• Communicates with patients, providers, and staff via email, fax, and telephone; educates patients on pre-op and post-op instructions.
• Recommends standard policies and procedures for providing routine service.
• Coordinates preventive maintenance requirements with operating requirements.
• Reconciles surgery reports within 24 hours to confirm authorizations match surgery performed.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
