Job summary

Aurora Health Care is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to join the ambulatory care team. This role supports providers, communicates with patients, and helps ensure a seamless, compassionate experience in the operating room schedule management.

The Scheduler coordinates procedure timing with physicians, departments and services to maximize room and equipment use while maintaining accurate schedules and patient charges. Monday–Friday with some holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Typically 1 year of healthcare setting experience performing customer service functions such as scheduling, registration, insurance authorization and/or patient billing.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate scheduling of surgical procedures between physicians and offices, OR time, anesthesia and other departments.
• Schedule next day and future surgical procedures and distribute schedules to relevant areas.
• Obtain necessary lab work, x-rays, and H&P as applicable.
• Process patient charges based on procedure type and materials used; audit revenue and update charges as needed.
• Answer and triage incoming calls; act as a resource to providers, staff, patients and families.
• Operate and troubleshoot office equipment and maintain supplies as needed.
