Job summary

UCLA Health in Santa Monica, CA is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate all aspects of care for the surgery service line. You will schedule patient appointments, surgeries, tests, and related procedures in the main OR or Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs).

This role involves obtaining insurance authorizations, preparing charts and documents for physicians, answering calls, and coordinating with multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Scheduling patient appointments, surgeries, x-rays, and required tests.
• Obtain insurance authorizations and prepare all necessary documentation, charts, and clinic information for physicians.
• Answer, screen, and respond to incoming calls.
• Prepare and forward required documents to appropriate departments, including: Insurance authorization, Charge documents and reconciliations, Disability and workers' compensation forms
• Explain charges to patients, assist with billing questions, and coordinate directly with Department Billing and Physician Support Services.
• Serve as a liaison between patients, physicians, nursing units, and other UCLA departments.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports, as needed.
• Provide support in related areas such as appointment scheduling, pre-registration, patient reception, and cash collection.
• Perform other duties and tasks, as assigned.
