Job Posting Title: Surgery Scheduler, Access Center

Dell Medical School is seeking a Surgery Scheduler for the Access Center.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Surgical Schedules: Manage the scheduling of surgical procedures, ensuring optimal use of operating rooms; communicate with surgeons and clinical staff to confirm availability and requirements; update and maintain the surgical schedule in the hospital's scheduling system.
  • Pre-Operative Documentation: Collect and verify patient information and pre-operative documentation; ensure all necessary consents and medical records are obtained and filed; coordinate with insurance providers for pre-authorization of procedures.
  • Patient: Provide patients with pre-operative instructions and information; answer patient inquiries regarding surgical procedures and schedules; coordinate pre-operative appointments and tests as needed.
  • Resource Management: Monitor and manage the availability of surgical equipment and supplies; work closely with the supply chain team to ensure timely procurement of necessary items; assist in the preparation of operating rooms for scheduled procedures.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain accurate records of surgical procedures and patient interactions; prepare reports and documentation for the surgical team and hospital administration; support the Surgery Scheduling Manager with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Training and Development: Assist in training new staff on scheduling procedures and systems; participate in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Quality Improvement: Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance scheduling efficiency and patient care; provide feedback and suggestions for process improvements.
  • Emergency Scheduling: Manage last‑minute changes to the surgical schedule due to emergencies or cancellations; coordinate with clinical staff to accommodate urgent surgical needs.

  • Certified Medical Scheduler (CMS) or equivalent certification.
