Position: Surgery Scheduler 2

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Otolaryngology is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler 2 in Miami, FL. This role acts as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians by scheduling and coordinating surgical and diagnostic procedures. The Senior Surgery Scheduler also serves as a knowledge resource for scheduling staff and oversees their functions to ensure accurate and timely scheduling.

Core Job Functions
  1. Obtain pre-authorizations for procedures as required by insurance companies.
  2. Oversee, produce, and distribute all surgical and procedural schedules to physicians and departments.
  3. Collaborate with patients, families, staff, and providers to schedule surgeries, pre-op physicals, and testing.
  4. Coordinate with hospitals and vendors for special cases or circumstances.
  5. Identify ways to streamline the surgical scheduling process and suggest improvements to management.
  6. Ensure electronic systems and scheduling tools are up-to-date and functioning properly, resolving issues promptly.
  7. Ensure documentation supports accurate billing of surgical procedures.
  8. Adhere to University and unit policies and safeguard assets.
