Job summary

Ventura Orthopedics is seeking a highly organized Surgery Scheduler to join our team in a fast-paced orthopedic practice. You will coordinate surgical procedures, obtain insurance authorizations, and serve as a liaison between patients, providers, hospitals, and insurers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent
• 12–18 months of related healthcare, medical scheduling, insurance verification, or administrative experience preferred
• Strong computer and office technology skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgeries and pre-operative appointments
• Coordinate surgery schedules with physicians, hospitals, and surgical facilities
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
• Obtain insurance precertifications and authorizations
• Secure authorizations for workers' compensation and industrial patients
• Communicate surgical instructions to patients
• Prepare and mail patient surgery packets and related materials
• Locate and pull patient charts for scheduled procedures
• Complete surgery scheduling forms for hospitals and centers
• Maintain scheduling records and documentation
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, providers, and staff
• Perform other duties as assigned

What You'll Do

As a Surgery Scheduler, you will:

• Schedule surgeries and pre-operative appointments
• Coordinate surgery schedules with physicians, hospitals, and surgical facilities
• Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
• Obtain insurance precertification's and authorizations
• Secure surgery authorizations for workers' compensation and industrial patients
• Communicate surgical instructions and information to patients
• Prepare and mail patient surgery packets and related materials

• Complete surgery scheduling forms required by hospitals and surgical centers
• Maintain accurate scheduling records and documentation
• Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, providers, and staff
• Perform other duties as assigned
