Job summary

IVI RMA GLOBAL in Basking Ridge, NJ is seeking a Surgical Scheduler with at least 2 years of surgical scheduling experience. This full-time role runs Monday–Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm and involves coordinating dates, times and locations for procedures.

You will handle logistics, collect paperwork and insurance information, manage pre- and post-operative documents, obtain referrals, and assist patients to ease concerns while maintaining the surgical schedule with the care team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' experience in surgical scheduling.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all surgical procedures and ensures that all clinical and insurance coding information is collected.
• Arranges logistics of patient surgeries, sets time and venue, and handles paperwork and administrative requirements.
• Comforts patients by addressing anxieties and answering questions.
• Ensures pre-operative paperwork is complete and post-operative reports are filed.
• Ensures referrals and authorizations are in place for procedures.
• Collects all out-of-pocket charges prior to surgery.
• Understands surgical procedures to maintain the schedule.
• Schedules surgery-related appointments with the care team.

Job description

IVI RMA has a need for a Surgical Scheduler for our Basking Ridge location. We are looking for someone with at least 2 years of experience in surgical scheduling. This is a full-time role working Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm.

Job Purpose

The Surgery Schedulerwill be responsible for interacting with patients and medical staff to arrange dates, timing, and locations for surgical procedures.

Essential Functions And Accountabilities

• Schedules all surgical procedures and ensures that all of the appropriate clinical and insurance coding information is collected for the surgery schedule.
• Arranges the logistics of patient surgeries, sets the time and venue of procedures and takes care of paperwork and other administrative requirements.
• Comforts patients by anticipating their anxieties and answering their questions.
• Assists in ensuring appropriate pre-operative paperwork is complete and post-operative reports and documents are received and filed.
• Ensures referrals and any necessary authorizations are in place for procedures.
• Collects all out-of-pocket charges prior to patient having surgery performed.
• Understands surgical procedures, such as the necessary time a surgery takes and the medical staff necessary, in order to properly maintain a surgical schedule.
• Schedules all surgery related appointments and works with patients’ care team to ensure any and all additional requirements are met.

Academic Training

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) - required
• Associate’s degree – a plus
• Area: Administrative Management or other related field

Position Requirements / Experience

• 2+ years' experience with surgical scheduling

Technical Skills

• Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office). Keyboard skills of 25 words required. Experience with medical office software program(s) (EMR’s) preferred.
