Job summary

IVI RMA North America is seeking a Per Diem Surgical Center Nurse (RN) for our Basking Ridge, NJ location. The role requires 2 shifts per month, including 1 weekend shift and 2 holidays per year, with flexible scheduling to support patient care needs.

The Nurse will provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative nursing care, perform assessments, coordinate with the surgical team, and ensure infection control and patient safety throughout the perioperative period.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• BLS/ACLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provides emotional support to the patient during the pre-operative, operative and post-operative stages.
• Performs all pre-operative and post-operative activities to coordinate surgical procedures.
• Handle Pre-Operative assessment and documentation per policy.
• Assist in room setup, counts, transport and hand-off to recovery team.
• Monitor patient status and report changes to physician.
• Review discharge instructions with patient/family and ensure continuity of care.
• Maintain infection control and safety precautions throughout duties.

Job description

IVI RMA North America is looking for a Per Diem Surgical Center Nurse (RN) for our Basking Ridge location. This role requires 2 shifts per month with 1 weekend shift required and 2 holidays per year.

Job Purpose

The Surgical Center Nurse is responsible for all nursing care and activities, ensuring that the highest quality patient care is maintained. This position will train to perform all functions as needed during the pre-operative, surgical and post-operative phases of patient care.

Essential Functions And Accountabilities

• Provides emotional support to the patient during the pre-operative, operative and post-operative stages.
• Performs all pre-operative and post-operative required activities so that the movement of the surgical procedures are coordinated, ensuring quality patient care.
• Pre-Operative - Completes patient pre-operative assessment and documents according to policy.
• Surgical - Performs all operative activities including checking the room for supplies, assisting the surgical technician setting up cases, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, surgical counts, transport of patient and report hand-off to the recovery team.
• PACU - Receives patient from the operating room with report of pertinent history and procedure (surgery performed, medications, fluids, complications, anesthetic/sedation/reversal agents, emotional status pre-procedure.)
• Assesses the patient on transfer from the post-anesthesia recovery room and documents that assessment.
• Monitors patients for condition changes and report any changes to the physician.
• Reviews the physician’s discharge instructions with the patient and/or the patient’s family and answers any questions the patient or others may have.
• Assists in the readying of the patient for discharge from the Center so that the patient receives continuity of nursing care.
• Follows proper infection control and safety precautions in the performance of all duties.

Academic Training

• Graduate of an approved School of Nursing
• Studies level: University Education (Bachelor's Degree)
• Studies area: Nursing
• BLS/ACLS – required
• Studies level: Certification
• Studies area: BLS/ACLS

Position Requirements/Experience

• 2+ years clinical nursing experience - required

Technical Skills

• Proficient in nursing assessment and intravenous therapy.
• Proficient in computer programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
