Dane Street is an Independent Review Organization and a national provider of Utilization Review services, expanding its physician panel to offer non-traditional physician work and supplemental income. This telework opportunity allows physicians to manage a caseload tailored to their schedule.
Our physician panel consists of independent contractors (1099), compensated per case. We seek physicians who are board certified in Occupational Medicine, hold active California licenses, and have experience in the California Independent Medical Review (IMR) process. IMR acts as a binding appeals process for disputes related to workers' compensation treatment denials or modifications. Since July 1, 2013, all medical treatment disputes in California are resolved through IMR, streamlining the process.
In California's workers' compensation system, all treatment requests undergo utilization review (UR) to assess medical necessity. Denials, delays, or modifications due to lack of necessity can be appealed through IMR, conducted by physicians evaluating cases based on evidence-based guidelines.
IMR physicians must be experts in the Medical Treatment Utilization Schedule (MTUS), Official Disability Guidelines (ODG), and medicolegal writing, as they evaluate medical necessity and articulate their rationale clearly in written determinations.
