General Surgeon

Location: Berlin, NH 03570

Hours: 4-4.5 days a week

Pay: $450k-500k

Job Summary

Join a team at a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, including a part-time general surgeon, two per diem general surgeons, locum general surgeons (primarily for on-call coverage), and part-time gastroenterology coverage. The role involves meeting clinical demands and rebuilding the general surgery service.

Collaborate with other members of the surgical team, including radiologists, anesthetists, medical assistants, RNs, and physical therapists.

On-Call Requirements

• 10 days/month and 120 days/year, including one weekend per month (Friday 8 am to Monday 8 am).
• Additional on-call opportunities are available for extra compensation, at the surgeon's discretion.
• Must be within 30 minutes when on call.
• On-call duties include providing phone advice to ED and hospitalist providers, accepting clinically appropriate transfer patients, and seeing ED patients for consultation.

Schedule

Standard schedule is 4-4.5 days per week, with options for a half-day or off on Fridays or Mondays, to be negotiated.

Job Requirements

• Prefer candidates with 2-5 years of experience in broad-spectrum general surgery and endoscopy. Recent graduates from residency or fellowship may be considered.
• Experience in a small hospital setting and comfort with rural practice are desired.
• Willingness to offer a broad scope of rural community surgery.
• Team-oriented, collaborative, patient-focused, with excellent communication skills.
• H1-B and J-1 visa candidates will be considered if they demonstrate excellent communication skills.

Bonuses

Eligible for a Good Citizenship Bonus up to $15,000 annually, based on achievement of certain criteria. Also eligible for additional compensation based on clinical productivity measured by wRVU.

Commencement Bonus

$15,000 paid on the first pay date following hire. Extra call compensation of $1,500 per additional call above 120/year.
