About the Genitourinary Reconstruction Urologist Position
The Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School in conjunction with the Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas are recruiting a Urologist with fellowship training in Genito-Urinary Reconstruction to join our team as an Assistant, Associate or full Professor. We seek individuals with excellent clinical skills, a passion for education, potential for scholarly contributions, and commitment to excellence. The faculty member will be an integral part of the rapidly expanding urology practice. The current urologic service at Dell Medical School is composed of a specialist in minimally invasive surgery / endourology and two urologist oncologists. A urologist specializing in genitourinary reconstruction who had developed a large referral practice recently left the organization. There is an opportunity to maintain and build further this genitourinary reconstruction practice. The individual should have interest in continuing to evolve and expand an ambitious urology practice that is the primary practice for un-insured and under-insured patients in Travis County but also cares for patients referred from other urologists locally and regionally. Of note, Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas, where the surgical practice is primarily located, is home to plastic surgeons, colorectal surgeons and gynecologists who often collaborate in care of patients with genitourinary reconstruction needs.

Essential Functions:
  • Serve as a clinical content expert on genitourinary reconstruction for Dell Medical School and Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas.
  • Evolve and expand the genitourinary reconstruction program within Dell Medical School s Health Transformation Building and other sites of service.
  • Assist in the training and management of a new clinical team.
  • Participate in strategic planning and other efforts directly tied to the development and growth of the genitourinary reconstruction practice.
  • Assist in the creation of a data and evaluation infrastructure for regularly assessing the clinical quality and cost outcomes for patients with genitourinary reconstruction needs.
  • Develop partnerships with referring physicians, hospitals, and ancillary providers in Austin and Central Texas.
  • Train and mentor medical students and residents on new models of care and clinical practice.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Education curricula related to evaluation and management of genitourinary reconstruction.
  • Develop and foster an atmosphere of scientific and academic inquiry in conjunction with trainees and researchers within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Collaborate with other schools at The University of Texas at Austin on multidisciplinary, value-based care models
  • Actively participate in the academic department by all required departmental policies.
Required Qualifications:
  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain prior to appointment);
  • Current Board certification by the American Board of Urology, or eligible for certification by having passed the Qualifying Examination
  • Fellowship training in genitourinary reconstruction.
  • Eligible for appointment as an Assistant, Associate or full Professor rank in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin.
