Responsibilities

• Perform multi step cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms and perioperative areas
• Clean and disinfect surgical instruments, equipment, and surfaces
• Handle and dispose of regulated medical waste and hazardous materials follow safety rules
• Maintain floors, walls, ceilings, and carpets in surgical areas through cleaning routines
• Discard infectious/non-infectious waste into proper containers with liners
• Conduct end of day terminal cleaning to prepare rooms for next use

Franciscan Healthcare is looking for a Surgery EVS (Environmental Services) Technician to join our team! This role plays an important part in keeping our surgical and perioperative areas clean, safe, organized, and infection controlled. As a Surgery EVS Technician, you’ll work alongside our surgical team to help maintain an environment that supports patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care. Your attention to detail and commitment to high standards will make a meaningful difference for both our patients and the team caring for them.

Hours: Minimum 20-25 hours/week, Monday-Friday 4:00pm start, on-call and holiday rotation, including nights and weekends.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform multi step cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms, and perioperative areas to meet strict hygiene and infection control standards
• Clean and disinfect surgical instruments, equipment, and surfaces according to manufacturer guidelines and organizational protocols.
• Segregate, handle, and dispose of regulated medical waste, hazardous materials, and general waste in compliance with safety and environmental regulations
• Maintain floors, walls, ceilings, and carpets in surgical areas through mopping, buffing, shampooing, and deep cleaning
• Discard infectious/non-infectious waste into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with proper trash liner.
• Conduct thorough end of day terminal cleaning to prepare rooms for the next use.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

• Highschool Diploma
• Previous EVS or cleaning experience preferred
• Infection control training and certification in hazardous material handling may be required. Obtain certification in Surgical Cleaning Technician program within 6 months of hire.

• Ability to properly lift position and transport patients (with assistance as defined)
