Job summary

Franciscan Healthcare seeks a Surgery EVS Technician to support our surgical team by keeping operating and perioperative areas clean, safe, organized, and infection controlled. You will help maintain patient safety and hygiene while supporting high standards of care.

Hours are 20-25 per week, Monday–Friday from 4:00pm, with on-call and holiday rotations including nights and weekends. Previous EVS experience preferred and certification within 6 months may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous EVS or cleaning experience preferred.
• Infection control training may be required.
• Certification in Surgical Cleaning Technician within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform multi-step cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms and perioperative areas.
• Disinfect surgical instruments, equipment and surfaces per guidelines.
• Handle and dispose of regulated medical waste per safety regulations.
• Maintain clean floors, walls, ceilings, and carpets in surgical areas.
• Conduct end-of-day terminal cleaning to prepare rooms for the next use.

Franciscan Healthcare is looking for a Surgery EVS (Environmental Services) Technician to join our team! This role plays an important part in keeping our surgical and perioperative areas clean, safe, organized, and infection controlled. As a Surgery EVS Technician, you’ll work alongside our surgical team to help maintain an environment that supports patient safety, infection prevention, and quality care. Your attention to detail and commitment to high standards will make a meaningful difference for both our patients and the team caring for them.

Hours: Minimum 20-25 hours/week, Monday-Friday 4:00pm start, on-call and holiday rotation, including nights and weekends.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform multi step cleaning and disinfection of operating rooms, and perioperative areas to meet strict hygiene and infection control standards
• Clean and disinfect surgical instruments, equipment, and surfaces according to manufacturer guidelines and organizational protocols.
• Segregate, handle, and dispose of regulated medical waste, hazardous materials, and general waste in compliance with safety and environmental regulations
• Maintain floors, walls, ceilings, and carpets in surgical areas through mopping, buffing, shampooing, and deep cleaning
• Discard infectious/non-infectious waste into proper containers and reline trash receptacle with proper trash liner.
• Conduct thorough end of day terminal cleaning to prepare rooms for the next use.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience

• Previous EVS or cleaning experience preferred
• Infection control training and certification in hazardous material handling may be required. Obtain certification in Surgical Cleaning Technician program within 6 months of hire.

• Interpersonal skills requiring courtesy and tact are necessary to communicate effectively
• Requires full range of body motion with frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
• Ability to properly lift position and transport patients (with assistance as defined)
• Ability to change from one duty to another frequently
• Ability to record information accurately and follow instructions exactly
• Willing to work flexible hours.
• Ability to maintain stationery standing position for 4 hours.
