Job summary

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team. The CNA will assist with endoscopic procedures, prep and maintain supplies, and help in the PACU and ward clerk duties.

A current CNA certification and BLS are required; experience with endoscopy procedures is preferred. The hospital emphasizes compassionate, round-the-clock emergency care and a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications

• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with current state certification.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience with endoscopy assisting and disinfection preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up endoscopy room per surgeon preference and assist during procedures.
• Assist physician and RN with endoscopic procedures and specimen handling.
• Maintain aseptic technique and ensure instruments and supplies are cleaned and sterilized as directed.
• Restock endoscopy room and keep work areas clean throughout the scope process.
• Perform Ward Clerk duties for PACU including chart audits and patient scheduling.
• Transport patients and assist in PACU admissions and monitoring.

Cleans, maintains and orders supplies and equipment. Shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Facilitates and demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times. Meets the communication needs of the patient, all departmental staff and referring offices. The PACU Ward Clerk provides basic nursing care and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean recovery environment according to the direction of the charge nurse. If you are looking for a career where you can make a difference, we have a place for you on our team.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Endoscopy Technician:Sets up Endoscopy Room according to surgeon preference.Assists physician and RN with endoscopic procedures.3Assists with specimens according to policy.Applies the principles of aseptic technique and prescribed procedure room procedures to competently perform endoscopy technician functions.Performs required maintenance of instruments, supplies and equipment by adhering to cleaning, care, utilizations and sterilization procedures as directed.Notifies supervisor of any malfunction of equipment.Uses and maintains DSD according to manufacturer recommendations.Ensures a clean and tidy work area throughout the scope process.Restocks endoscopy room with designated supplies.The Pre-op Ward Clerk / Unit Secretary:Answers phones, transfers calls, handles requests and takes messages.Makes phone calls to patients when arrival times are changed.Will keep Charge nurse updated with calls as needed.Handles Surgical Schedules:Prints copies of the surgery scheduleUpdate schedules dailyIs responsible for patient charts for final review by Charge Nurse:Inserts paperwork, lab reports, EKG’s, history & physicals, and physician orders.The CNA assigned to PACU I:Assists in admitting patients to the PACU I area.Attaches monitors and SCDs.Empties and records foleys and drains.Applies warm blankets and ice packs to patients.The CNA assigned to PACU II:Assists patients to the bathroom and helps patients in getting dressed.Transports patients to their car.The CNA’s Ward Clerk Duties:Performs a chart audit for all patient charges.Maintains PACU forms, files and supplies.Fax physician orders.Call in doctor appointments for patients.Stock the following items:Carts, shelves and suppliesDietary itemsOxygen tanksBENEFITS:Taking care for our community starts with taking care of our own team.
