Job summary

Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for the Surgery Clinic. This full-time, days position places you under RN supervision to provide direct patient care, perform plan of care interventions, wound care, and medication administration as needed, while documenting all care and outcomes.

You will assist with daily living activities, monitor patient status, and communicate with the care team and families.

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee LPN license (single-state or compact).
• Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
• If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new PSOR before employment begins.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Must work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care supervised by a registered nurse.
• Perform plan of care interventions including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication; document care.
• Assist RN with development of plan of care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living: personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitor, document, and communicate patient status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Advocate for the patient’s physical and emotional well-being.
• Schedule appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtain insurance re-authorizations for testing and scheduled procedures.
