Highpoint Health Winchester with Ascension Saint Thomas is seeking a Clinic LPN to provide direct patient care under RN supervision in a busy surgery clinic. The role emphasizes wound care, specimen collection, and coordination of nursing plans of care.

The ideal candidate holds a Tennessee LPN license, a Practical Nursing diploma, and BLS certification within 30 days of hire, with the ability to work calmly in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires Tennessee LPN license and graduation from a Practical Nursing program.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under supervision of a registered nurse.
• Perform plan of care interventions including specimen collection and wound care; may administer medication; document care.
• Assist RN with development of the plan of care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living: hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitor and communicate patient status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Advocate for patient’s physical and emotional well-being.
• Schedule appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtain insurance re-authorizations for testing and procedures.

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 7:45am - 4:30pm and Friday 7:45 am - 12:00 pm

How you'll contribute

A Clinic LPN who excels in this role:

• As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
• Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.
• Assists RN with development of plan of care.
• Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
• Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.
• Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
• Schedules appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider.
• Obtains insurance re-authorizations as requested for testing and scheduled procedures.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an Active Tennessee license (single-state or compact) and be a graduate of a Practical Nursing program. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins. Additional requirements include:

• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Licenses: LPN License for the State of Tennessee.
• Education: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program.
