Locums - Portsmouth, Virginia, Cardiothoracic Surgery Opening

Clinical Role:

Open dates:

• All of June and July 2025

Coverage start date: June 2025

Shift: Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm Clinic/OR & 24-hr. Call

Reason for Coverage: Cardiothoracic Surgery Coverage

Practice Setting: Office/ Hospital/ OR/ Rounding

Call Schedule: After office hours and weekends

Trauma Level/Designation: n/a

Number of Operating Rooms: 1

EMR: Epic

Patient Age Demographic: Adult 18+

Scope of Services Required: Adult Cardiac Surgery, General Thoracic Surgery

Required Duties/Procedures:

• Aortic Surgery Procedures: Descending Aortic Aneurysms
• Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery Procedures: CABG, Redo Coronary Revascularization (With or Without Heart Valve Surgery), Arterial Revascularization (Using Internal Mammary Arteries, Radial Artery and Gastroepiploic Artery), Pericardial Window, Tube Thoracostomy, Thoracic aortic aneurysms
• Thoracic Endoscopy Procedures: Flexible and Rigid Bronchoscopy, Thoracotomy Lung Resections and Pneumonectomy, Chest Wall Resection and Reconstruction, Mediastinal Surgery
• Vascular Surgery Procedures: Heart Valve Repair/Replacement Surgery, Heart Valve Replacement Without Surgery (CoreValve System), Mitral Valve Repair

Additional Preferences and Requirements:

• Locum to Perm is also a preferred option
• Board Certification (American Board of Thoracic Surgery) - Required
• Active VA license & DEA - Required, no exceptions
• BLS/ACLS - Required
• Fellowship Training - Required
• Provider must be available for June & July coverage
