Surgery Attendant - Surgery - Full Time - Afternoons (93159)

Join our team as a Surgery Attendant, supporting surgical operations at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. This full-time role involves assisting with surgical support, preparing ORs, maintaining sterile environments, and supporting clinical staff with patient transport and equipment management. The position serves patients across all age groups, from infants to geriatrics.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist with surgical procedures and nursing tasks in assigned areas.
  2. Prepare ORs with supplies and equipment, ensuring compliance with policies and physician preferences. Restock anesthesia carts and supply centers.
  3. Help transport, position, and prep patients, demonstrating age-specific competencies.
  4. Procure and deliver supplies, specimens, blood, and equipment as needed.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and sterility in OR environments and equipment.
  6. Observe aseptic techniques and address any breaches promptly.
  7. Troubleshoot anesthesia equipment and respond to urgent needs quickly.
  8. Perform preventive maintenance and quality assurance on monitors and equipment.
  9. Manage supplies and inventory, including checking expiration dates and stock rotation.
  10. Assist in orientation of new staff members.
  11. Transport patients between care areas as required.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Preferred: Medical Terminology knowledge, BLS certification.
  • Experience: At least 1 year as a nursing assistant or unit clerk.
Working Conditions
  • Use of personal protective equipment, including safe patient handling and isolation gear.
  • Physical ability to lift light to medium weights and tolerate exposure to various environmental factors.
