Job summary

Corewell Health Zeeland Hospital in Zeeland, MI seeks an OR support technician to assist in the intra-operative phase, prepare and clean equipment, and maintain sterile supplies for multiple surgical cases. You will assemble supplies, decontaminate instruments, and support room turnover to help the Surgery Department run smoothly.

Requirements include a High School Diploma (Associate's preferred), 1–2 years in patient care or OR settings, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's degree in related field preferred.
• 2 years of relevant patient care experience preferred and 1 year of relevant experience in Operating Room preferred.
• AHA or ARC American Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 Days required.
• Anesthesia Technician Certification (Cer. A.T.) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in preparation, delivery, and clean-up of patient care during intra-operative phase.
• Contributes to the smooth operation of the unit by obtaining equipment, sterile supplies, and instruments for each surgical case.
• Assembles surgical supplies for rooms and case tables; opens sterile supplies for procedures.
• Cleans equipment (decontamination and sterilization of instruments), work areas and reusable supplies; returns unneeded equipment.

About The Unit

The Surgery Department

has 3 operating rooms, 2 endo suites, c-section room and supports other services including manometry and bronchoscopy. It is the busiest regional site performing roughly 200 more procedures than other top performing regional sites monthly. We see a variety of cases including multi-specialty, ortho, general OB/GYN, urology, dentistry, Ear Nose and Throat, and bariatric.

Scope of work

Assists in the preparation, delivery, and clean-up of patient care during the intra-operative phase. Contributes to the smooth operation of the unit. Obtains and organizes necessary equipment, sterile supplies, and instruments for each surgical case. Assembles surgical supplies for rooms and case tables. Opens sterile supplies for surgical procedures. Cleans equipment (including decontamination and sterilization of instruments), work areas and reusable supplies and returns unneeded equipment to appropriate department. Also follows-up on equipment needing repairs.
