Job summary

Valley Baptist - Harlingen Hospital seeks an OR Support role to assist in perioperative care and maintain a clean, safe operating environment. The position supports RN and OR staff with patient transport, specimen delivery, and routine turnover tasks.

The role emphasizes teamwork, adherence to PPE protocols, and reliable preparation of rooms for next cases, with opportunities for professional development within a collaborative health system.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Preferred: 6 months of related experience.
• AHA BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct and indirect patient care in the Perioperative setting under supervision.
• Perform terminal cleaning of the operating room and prepare rooms for new patients.
• Cleans and remakes patient stretchers and beds; restocks assigned areas.
• Participates in OR turnovers between cases.
• Delivers specimens, labs, and blood to and from OR; transports patients as directed.
• Follows Standard Precautions using PPE per policy.
• All other duties as assigned.

Perform terminal cleaning of the operating room and prepares rooms for new patients. Cleans and re-makes patient stretchers and beds and responsible for assigned areas for restocking and cleanliness. Participates in OR suite turnovers between cases. Delivers specimens, labs, blood to and from OR. Transport patients as directed by a nurse. Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required per policy. All other duties as assigned.

Education:

Required: High school diploma or GED.

Experience:

Preferred: 6 months of related experience

Certifications:

Required: AHA BLS.
