Operating Room Assistant – Surgery
Description
Maintains a safe environment for patients, co‑workers, and self.
Ensures the correct patient is brought to the procedure area by checking the arm band, and ensures patient safety by using side rails and leg straps when appropriate.
Assists with the transport and positioning of patients under the supervision of the RN and physician for patients of all ages (pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
Performs proper cleaning of operating rooms and equipment between each case, and terminal cleaning of the department at the end of each day according to established policy.
Performs daily and weekly housekeeping duties of the department as assigned.
Ensures proper room set‑up after cleaning.
Constantly monitors assigned rooms, remaining in the assigned area, and takes breaks outside the department only when relieved or permission is granted.
Regularly cooperates and offers assistance to other staff in order to complete all work assignments.
Ensures proper maintenance, care, and cleanliness of equipment and supplies.
Responds immediately when called upon in emergency situations.
Demonstrates effective organizational skills.
Completes assignments within the appropriate time frame.
Works hours as assigned and is willing to work extended hours on any shift as needed.
