Job summary

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Essentia Health's General Surgery team in Duluth, MN provides advanced health assessment and collaborates with surgeons. The role includes pre‑op and post‑op education, coordinating studies, and patient care from newborn to elderly as needed.

Joining a busy team of 5 APs and 7 physicians, the NP/PA supports OR procedures, daily rounds, discharge planning, and flexible scheduling with day/evening/night rotation.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in appropriate state.
• Current NP or PA license in appropriate state.
• Current CPR certification.
• National certification in applicable area.
• Successful Essentia Health credentialing prior to practice.

Responsibilities

• Join a busy general surgery team with 5 Advanced Practitioners and 7 physicians.
• Assist surgical teams in the operating room as Surgical Assist.
• Provide pre‑op and post‑op education for patients and families.
• Coordinate diagnostic studies, consultations, and communications.
• Manage post‑op care, rounds, discharge planning, and follow‑up visits.
• Respond to evening and weekend call as needed.
