Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• 1–2 years Surgical Technologist experience recommended.
• Registered Surgical Technologist (VA) license with BLS at start.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and practice as first scrub.
• Anticipates instrumentation and aids surgeon to expedite procedures.
• Maintains aseptic technique and advanced surgical knowledge.
• Precepts new and experienced staff in scrub role.
• Operates and evaluates powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instruments.

Surgical Technologist 2 Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrates advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the first scrub.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of anatomy and can anticipate the required instrumentation for each step of a surgical procedure.
• Expedites the operative procedure by anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
• Demonstrates advanced knowledge of aseptic and surgical techniques.
• Performs in preceptor role for new & experienced staff in the scrub role.
• Provides working knowledge of powered instrumentation, video equipment, microscopes, and complex instrumentation, equipment. Assists in the evaluation of new products and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED
• Experience: One (1) year Surgical Technologist experience.
• Licensure: Registered Surgical Technologist in the state of VA.
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: Level one (1) trauma experience.

• Experience: Two (2) years' Surgical Technologist experience.
• Licensure: Registered Surgical Technologist in the state of VA.
• Certification: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) via NCCT. Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: Surgical Technologist experience in Ortho, Trauma, Neuro, Robotics, Vascular preferred.
