Job summary

Origin Travel Nurses is seeking a Surgical Technician for day shift with rotating on-call in a 13-week contract. You will support the RN Circulator, maintain sterile technique, assist in procedures, and ensure readiness of rooms and equipment in both surgical and endoscopy settings.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the Operating Room in a timely and organized manner with nursing staff.
• Practice the principles of asepsis correctly.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all equipment in the OR and Endoscopic Lab.
• Coordinate patient care with the RN Circulator.
• Stock and replace CS items and prepare CS inventory sheets.
• Maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Assist the physician during procedures with correct instrumentation.
• Follow verbal physician orders in the operating suite.
• Handle surgical specimens and compile equipment on the field.
• Timely document unusual occurrence reports and other forms as required.
• Perform CPR as needed and use instruments and equipment correctly.
• Wrap instruments for sterilization.
• Transport patients to and from the OR.
• Monitor surgical equipment, including maintenance and repairs.
• Complete duties as technical scrub in the OR.
• Prepare room and equipment for Endoscopy procedures.
• Maintain a cooperative disposition within the OR.
• Other duties as required.

Job Description

Under the guidance of the Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technician is responsible for the care and safety of the patient during surgical procedures, providing technical assistance in the Operating Room and demonstrating knowledge relative to the ages of the patients served.

• Prepare the Operating Room in a timely and organized manner along with the nursing staff for surgical procedures.

• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize all equipment in the Operating Room and Endoscopic Lab.
• Coordinate patient care with the RN Circulator.

• Assist the physician during surgical procedures with correct instrumentation organized and available.
• Follow verbal physician orders in the operating suite.
• Handle surgical specimens and compile the necessary equipment on the surgical field.
• Timely document unusual occurrence reports and other departmental forms as required.
• Perform CPR as needed and correctly use all applicable instruments and equipment.
• Clean and wrap instruments for sterilization.
• Transport patients to and from the Operating Room.
• Monitor surgical equipment, including maintenance and repairs.
• Complete duties as technical scrub in the Operating Room.
• Prepare room and equipment for Endoscopy procedures.
• Maintain a cooperative disposition within the Operating Room.
• Other duties as required.

Schedule

This position will involve a day shift with rotating call, consisting of 8-hour shifts.
