Job summary

Prefix-Corporation is seeking a skilled shop technician to perform preparation work before and after painting, including grinding, sanding and buffing. You will mask areas not to be painted and repair surfaces to achieve a high-quality finish.

Based in Auburn Hills, MI, you will move painted articles to the paint booth, finish surfaces with polishing compounds, and maintain a clean, safe work area. A background in paint and body repair with at least 1 year hands-on experience is required; a

• Background in paint and body repair with a minimum of 1 years hands-on experience.
• A High School or GED equivalent required. A certificate from an accredited technical or an industrial trade school is preferred.
• Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time.

Responsibilities

• Perform preparation work prior or after painting such as grinding, sanding, buffing.
• For parts not painted, mask-off areas not to be painted.
• Fill cavities and dents as necessary and surfaces repaired area to attain required finish.
• Cleans and prepares surface of articles to be painted using solvent, sandpaper and wire brush.
• Moves painted articles from preparation area to and from paint booth.
• Finish surfaces by polishing with sandpaper, pumice, compound, wax or other materials.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment.
• Perform other tasks as assigned or approved by the supervisor.
