Job summary

Prefix-Corporation is seeking a skilled shop technician to perform preparation work before and after painting, including grinding, sanding and buffing. You will mask areas not to be painted and repair surfaces to achieve a high-quality finish.

Based in Auburn Hills, MI, you will move painted articles to the paint booth, finish surfaces with polishing compounds, and maintain a clean, safe work area. A background in paint and body repair with at least 1 year hands-on experience is required; a

Qualifications

Background in paint and body repair with a minimum of 1 years hands-on experience.
A High School or GED equivalent required. A certificate from an accredited technical or an industrial trade school is preferred.
Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time.

Responsibilities

Perform preparation work prior or after painting such as grinding, sanding, buffing.
For parts not painted, mask-off areas not to be painted.
Fill cavities and dents as necessary and surfaces repaired area to attain required finish.
Cleans and prepares surface of articles to be painted using solvent, sandpaper and wire brush.
Moves painted articles from preparation area to and from paint booth.
Finish surfaces by polishing with sandpaper, pumice, compound, wax or other materials.
Maintain clean and safe work environment.
Perform other tasks as assigned or approved by the supervisor.
