Job summary

Prefix-Corporation in Auburn Hills, MI seeks a parts finishing technician to demask and inspect painted parts, and finish surfaces by polishing using wax, compound, or polish. The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least 3 years of hands-on paint/body repair experience.

Preference is given to candidates with a technical or industrial trade certificate. Must be a self-starter with basic hand tools and a willingness to upgrade tools as needed.

Responsibilities

• Finish parts after painting using specified products per work instruction (wax, compound, polish).
• Finish surfaces by polishing with sandpaper, pumice, compound, wax or other materials.
• Maintain clean and safe work environment; keep spray booth clean.
• Position articles in jigs or erect ladders/scaffolding as needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Paint Manager.

SUMMARY:Assists in the finishing of parts in after they have been painted.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDemask finished parts and make an inspection of the part to ensure no damage is done.Perform a finish of the part(s) after painting is completed using the specified products outlined in the work instruction. Products may include wax, compound, or polish.Finish surfaces by polishing with sandpaper, pumice, compound, wax or other materials.Maintain clean and safe work environmentMaintains cleanliness of spray boothPositions articles in jigs or erects ladders or scaffoldingPerform other tasks as assigned or approved by the Paint ManagerBackground in paint and body repair with a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience. A High School or GED equivalent required. A certificate from an accredited technical or an industrial trade school is preferred. Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time.
