Job summary

Prefix-Corporation seeks an experienced Paint Technician to prepare surfaces and spray-paint parts and vehicles. You will grind, sand, buff, mask, mix paints per codes, and adjust spray settings to meet specifications.

Responsibilities include maintaining spray-booth cleanliness, moving items between areas, and supporting other departments as needed by the Plant Operations Manager.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Trade or technical certificate preferred.
• Background in paint and body repair with 5+ years of hands-on painting experience.

Responsibilities

The Paint Technician assists in the preparation and spray painting of surfaces to be painted.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)Follow corporate/departmental established proceduresProvide input into the development and revision of departmental proceduresPerform preparation work prior to painting such as grinding, sanding, buffing and mask-off areas not to be paintedFill cavities and dents as necessary and surfaces repaired area to attain required finishCleans and prepares surface of articles to be painted using solvent, sandpaper and wire brushAssists in the mixing of paints per paint codesAssists in the selections and mixes paint to produce desired color and finish according to specificationsApplies paint to prepared surfaces adjusting sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray according to knowledge of painting techniquesCleans spraying equipment thoroughly with solventFinish surfaces by polishing with sandpaper, pumice, compound, wax or other materialsClean and detail finished productMoves painted articles from preparation area to and from paint boothMaintains cleanliness of spray boothPositions articles in jigs or erects ladders or scaffoldingProvide input on improving operational efficienciesProvide inter-departmental support as directedAssist in any task assigned or approved by the Plant Operations Manager. Tasks will be assigned according to employee availability and individual talentsBackground in paint and body repair, previous experience painting show and concept vehicles, with a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience. A High School or GED equivalent required. A certificate from an accredited technical or an industrial trade school is preferred. Needs to be a self-starter with proficiency in budgeting time. Incumbent must possess basic hand tools and spray guns for the position and upgrade such tools as required to complete the tasks assigned.
