Job summary

The Department of Natural Resources seeks a Surface Mine Reclamation Field Manager, Natural Resource Scientist 4, to supervise five regionally based Reclamation Specialists/Inspectors and provide technical guidance on mining-related slope stability and reclamation.

Based in Olympia with statewide duties, the role leads an awards program, ensures regulatory compliance under RCW 78.44 and WAC 332-18, and mentors staff to uphold DNR's core values.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Geology or related field plus six years of surface mine reclamation experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ESRI ArcGIS products.

Responsibilities

• Provide responsible charge in collaboration with the Lead Regulatory Geologist for all five Reclamation Specialists/Inspectors.
• Guide Inspectors on compliance issues and provide technical assistance on slope stability and reclamation.
• Lead efforts to sustain and grow the Surface Mine Reclamation Award Program.
• Collaborate with program staff to educate stakeholders and support permitting and compliance efforts.
