Job summary

The Ohio State University seeks a Surface Maintenance Tech 1 to operate medium and light equipment, maintaining campus roads and grounds, and assisting in snow removal.

Under general supervision, you may work in Campus Shop (0987) with shifts changing as operations dictate; background check and pre-employment drug test are required. 40-hour weeks, first shift; equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 100 hours training on medium/light equipment.
• 100 hours experience in concrete set-up and finishing.
• Valid driver’s license; Class A CDL with tanker endorsement within first 150 days.
• Must pass federally required pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload materials, use hand and power tools; assist in snow removal.

Job Title: Surface Maintenance Tech 1

Department: Administration and Planning | FOD Operations Landscape Roads and Grounds

Detailed Job Description

Under general supervision from maintenance supervisor, performs semi-skilled work on roads, walks and drainage systems/grounds. Uses a wide variety of medium and light motorized equipment to maintain repair and clean campus-area roads and grounds; loads and unloads materials from trucks; uses small hand and power tools; assists in snow removal; performs road maintenance activities. Performs other duties as assigned; works primarily first shift within Facilities Operations and Development Landscape Services, but is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictate; may work overtime; subject to 24 hour emergency call in. Will require successful completion of a criminal background check.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 100 hours of training in operation of medium and light equipment; 100 hours experience in concrete set-up and finishing; valid driver’s license upon employment and Class A commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement obtained within the first 150 days of the probationary period; must pass federally required pre-employment drug test.

Additional Information

The target hiring range for this job profile is $16.90-$23.24 per hour. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
