Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Surface Maintenance Tech 1 to perform semi-skilled work on roads, walks and drainage systems across campus. You will operate a range of medium and light equipment, load and unload materials, and assist in snow removal while contributing to the upkeep of campus-area roads and grounds.

Total commitment is 40 hours weekly on the First Shift, with potential for overtime and shift changes based on operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 100 hours of training in operation of medium and light equipment.
• 100 hours experience in concrete set-up and finishing.
• Valid driver’s license; Class A CDL with tanker endorsement obtained within the first 150 days of the probationary period.
• Must pass federally required pre-employment drug test.

Responsibilities

• Maintain roads, walks and drainage systems on campus.
• Operate a wide variety of medium and light motorized equipment to maintain, repair and clean campus-area roads and grounds.
• Load and unload materials from trucks; use small hand and power tools.
• Assist in snow removal and road maintenance activities.
• Works primarily first shift; may require overtime and 24-hour emergency call.

Uses a wide variety of medium and light motorized equipment to maintain repair and clean campus-area roads and grounds; loads and unloads materials from trucks; uses small hand and power tools; assists in snow removal; performs road maintenance activities. Performs other duties as assigned; works primarily first shift within Facilities Operations and Development Landscape Services, but is subject to changes in shift, hours, days, and/or location as operations dictate; may work overtime; subject to 24 hour emergency call in. Will require successful completion of a criminal background check. **Minimum Qualifications:**High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 100 hours of training in operation of medium and light equipment; 100 hours experience in concrete set-up and finishing; valid driver’s license upon employment and Class A commercial driver’s license with tanker endorsement obtained within the first 150 days of the probationary period; must pass federally required pre-employment drug test.**Desired Qualification**:Experience with The Ohio State University's facilities, systems, policies, and procedures.## Additional Information:The target hiring range for this job profile is $16.90-$23.24 per hour.
