Overview
VTG is seeking a Surface Electronics Combat Systems Subject Matter Expert (SME) with proven ship maintenance and modernization expertise. The candidate will provide dedicated, timely professional support services to the Flag Officer, Executive Director, and Chief of Staff for the Director, Surface Ship Maintenance, Modernization & Sustainment (SEA 21).
Position will be onsite in Washington, D.C.
What will you do?
- The candidate shall provide on-demand professional support services to SEA 21 leadership. The role requires a proven SME in Surface Electronics/Combat Systems with strong analytics and strategic thinking skills.
- The candidate shall serve as a Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Combat Systems, Intelligence, and Cyber (C5I) SME.
- Provide technical leadership and management experience within Combat Systems, Operations, or Weapons Departments, afloat and ashore across multiple warfare enterprises.
- Offer knowledge management, strategic planning, brief development, action tracking, and communication support, including messaging, configuration control, database management, and proactive thinking.
- Lead or contribute to strategic initiatives to improve SEA 21 processes, data, metrics, and resources, focusing on surface ship systems, modernization planning, execution, and oversight.
- Utilize strong analytic and strategic thinking skills for strategic planning and knowledge management.
- Respond proactively and reactively to taskings from SEA 21 leadership, providing quality, timely products such as communication strategies, briefs, point papers, and analysis.
- Support Flag-level strategy planning, communication approaches, brief development, knowledge management, and process improvement.
- Develop and deliver flag-level briefings and analysis.
Do you have what it takes?
Required skills:
- 15 years of experience in U.S Navy ship systems operations, training, maintenance, and modernization, including planning, management, and assessment of availabilities.
- Must have been a Navy Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) or Line Division Officer (LDO) in the Electronics/Combat Systems field.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of engaging senior military and civilian leadership (Flag level and SES level).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite – PowerPoint, Word, Access, Excel.
- Proactive with excellent customer service and management experience.
- Ability to travel and operate in shipyard environments.
- Must be a US Citizen with a DoD Secret Clearance and ability to maintain it.
- SharePoint Knowledge Management experience is a plus.
Pay Range: VTG’s estimated starting pay range is $100,000 - $200,000 annually. This range is a general guideline and may vary based on experience, education, skills, market considerations, and contractual requirements.
